It’s inspiring to see individuals step up and help unsheltered homeless. One of those inspiring individuals is Michael Sean Wright, founder of Wound Walk OC.

What Is Wound Walk OC?

According to Wound Walk’s Facebook page, “Wound Walk OC tends to the wounds of our unsheltered in Orange County, California. This is direct relief for those who need it most. We have a wound wagon, filled by items donated by people like you– thank you.”

Basic Wound Care & Hygiene

Wound Walk OC provides basic wound care and hygiene services to unsheltered homeless people living in Orange County, California.

Michael Sean Wright started Wound Walk OC to help those living outdoors who don’t have a primary care physician. Most unsheltered homeless consider the ER doctor their primary care physician, but those doctors usually can only stabilize the person’s condition or injury. Instead, Wound Walk OC treats and monitors wounds over time, so those injuries can heal properly.

Wound Walk OC is a group of volunteers who walk throughout Orange County, bringing medical supplies, hygiene products, and food to the unsheltered homeless who live and sleep there.

Combating COVID-19

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wound Walk OC has also offered handwashing stations and other means to prevent the spread of the disease.

In a video on YouTube, Wright says, “It’s not up to somebody else, it’s up to us to help our homeless neighbors during the coronavirus and at all times. We all have something we can do, and that we are good at. This problem isn’t going away unless we step up and do something.”
