RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST


JOB SUMMARY

Our environment is challenging and collaborative. You will have the opportunity to work with individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in our Participants' lives and our community. We are seeking Full and Part-Time Residential Support Specialists. The position is responsible for providing e services to Beach House Family Shelter residents. The Residential Support Specialists assist clients in the residential housing program and oversee the general, daily functioning of the Beach House Family Shelter facilities. 


Reports to: Shelter Manager


Schedule: As determined by supervisor/Shelter Manager


Salary: $14 - $17 per hour depending on experience and certifications


SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to stay organized
  • Ability to follow directions, procedures, and policies to the letter
  • Ability to enforce policies and procedures with Participants
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflicts
  • Willingness to prepare meals and general housekeeping
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft office suite, ability to learn and effective use Agency records software
  • Ability to complete required paperwork in a timely manner – progress notes, incident report, write-ups, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to engage with program Participants
  • Consistently be on time for shift and have good attendance
  • Be able to think quickly and appropriately in a crisis situation
  • Compassion and empathy
  • Maintain ethical and moral boundaries with Participants
  • Be self-motivated
  • High level of personal integrity and ethical conduct
  • Practice a high level of conduct regarding confidentiality
  • Ability to work with a wide range of individuals, diverse community
  • Ability and willingness to work with children
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment and Participants
  • Ability to make minor decisions as Participants’’ needs change and as Participants change
  • Provide quality customer service at all times. Not be condescending, disrespectful, or look down upon any Participant for any reason
  • Ability and willingness to de-escalate situations
  • Be able and willing to work any shift – days, nights, weekends, holidays


QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED

• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and yearly BCI/FBI background checks

• Serve Safe Certification required or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment

• QMHS, CDCA, Peer Support Certification preferred

• Valid driver’s license

• If in recovery, must have at least two years of continuous sobriety
