Meet Lisa Banks, Interim Executive Director for Leading Families Home. In this interview, Lisa shares her thoughts on the mission of our organization, how lives are transformed through our programs, and what your donation means to Leading Families Home.

My name is Lisa Banks, and I am the Interim Executive Director at Beach House, inc., dba Leading Families Home. I am the most recent person to pick up the torch to help solve homelessness in our community and help lead those families home.

The mission of Leading Families Home is to help families transition from homelessness to permanent housing.

This mission means to me that our goal is not to just give people a place to stay, or to keep a shelter full, but rather to help our families have their own home. And not only just their own home, but a home that is safe, affordable, and is permanent.

In addition to that, we set families up to be successful once they move into their own homes by offering case management and behavior health services.

I have seen various family dynamics come into the shelter hopeless, tired, hungry, depressed, frustrated, angry, and alone. After working with our team of residential support specialists, case managers, our housing inspection specialists, therapists, etc., they are provided the resources, tools, and support necessary to obtain employment, get their kids back, education, renew their licenses, alleviate warrants, reestablish family relationships, custodial victories, etc.

Not only does our team help transform the lives of each and every person who walks through our door, but each of those people helps transform each of us as well.

Bad things happen to good people. You never know who may need our help one day. It could be a neighbor, it could be a family member, it could be a friend, or it could even be you. All it takes is a fire, loss of employment, a natural disaster, or one bad decision to lead to homelessness, and you could end up here.
