We Need Essentials for Our Emergency Shelter

Leading Families Home • Sep 20, 2022

We're having an ongoing donation drive for ESSENTIALS: items like kitchenware, bedding, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items. We're constantly in need of these items to stock our Shelter and help our newly housed Participants. Please help us out! We've created an Amazon Wishlist for your convenience (you do not have to purchase items from Amazon): https://a.co/gtYWDzS

Household Essentials Needed

Our most needed household items include:

  1. Air Mattresses
  2. Twin Sheets
  3. Pillows
  4. Twin Comforters
  5. Laundry Baskets
  6. Bath Towels
  7. Pots & Pans
  8. Dishes
  9. Silverware
  10. Cups
  11. Brooms, Dustpans
  12. Vacuums
  13. Shower Curtains, Liners, Hooks
  14. Toilet Bowl Plungers

Many times, when our Participants exit Beach House Family Shelter and are permanently housed, they have little or nothing in the way of household items. Many sleep on the floor and do not have beds. For each family who is successfully housed, we put together a basket of items that include some of the items above. We rely on support from our donors to help us keep these items in our donation room, so that we can help each of our families when they move into their new homes.

If you'd like to help us out, we've created an Amazon Wishlist for your convenience (you do not have to purchase items from Amazon): https://a.co/gtYWDzS

Cleaning Supplies Needed

Other items that are chronically needed by our Shelter and housed Participants include cleaning supplies, such as:

  1. Disinfecting Wipes
  2. Lysol
  3. Dish Soap
  4. Bleach
  5. Sponges
  6. Toilet Bowl Cleaner
  7. Laundry Detergent
  8. Garbage Bags
  9. Paper Towels

Many of the items most of us use every day are almost out of reach financially for our Participants. Simple things like dish soap and garbage bags may be missing in our Participants' homes as they can't afford these items plus food. You can find these items on our Amazon Wishlist for your convenience (you do not have to purchase items from Amazon): https://a.co/gtYWDzS

Hygiene Items Needed

Hygiene products are always needed at our Shelter and for our housed Participants. These items include:

  1. Hand Soap
  2. Hand Sanitizer
  3. Deodorant
  4. Toothpaste, Toothbrushes
  5. Shampoo, Conditioner
  6. Body Wash
  7. Feminine Products
  8. Diapers, Wipes

Hygiene items are essential for maintaining cleanliness and even help out Participants regain a sense of self worth. These items can be purchased easily and shipped right to our Shelter! Hygiene items can be found here: https://a.co/gtYWDzS (you do not have to purchase items from Amazon)

Items We Don't Take As Donations

There are a few items that we generally don't accept, mainly because our storage space is very limited. Once in a while, we will ask our donors for these items if we have a specific Participant who needs them.

We don't accept:

  1. Clothing
  2. Furniture
  3. Used Hygiene Items
  4. Expired Medication
  5. Food

We are beyond grateful for all donations made to our organization, however, we simply don't have enough space to store lots of clothing or furniture that we can't use right away. Used hygiene items and expired medication don't meet the standards we have for our Participants. Food can be tricky, due to COVID, so we usually don't accept that.

You Can Change a Life

For our current and future Participants, the need for comprehensive services continues to grow. To meet that need, we have big plans. And big plans call for big dollars. We need your help.
