Event Details: (quoted from https://glasscityjazzfest.com/)

"Toledo is a city well known for its deep roots in jazz and for producing and supporting great jazz and jazz artist such as the innovative Jon Hendricks, the incomparable Art Tatum and so many more.

"This year, we continue to fill the void of world class jazz festivals in our immediate region, with the second “THE GLASS CITY JAZZFEST”, an annual event on the banks of our most beautiful and important natural asset: the Maumee River, with a westward view of the City of Toledo, from the new Metro Parks – Glass Pavilion (at 983 Front. St).

"The City of Toledo, in partnership with The Great Lakes Jazz Society – Metroparks Toledo – Lucas County – Toledo Area Transit Authority (TARTA), Destination Toledo – 5th /3rd Bank, and a host of Non Profits and the Private Industry; have united with the goal of bringing world class entertainment to our waterfront; and also to enjoy the benefits for our area that are generated from the economic impact that such annual festivals bring with them.

"The 2nd Annual “GLASS CITY JAZZFEST”!!

Attendees of the family-friendly, open-air festival will enjoy a full day of live acts that will explore various genres of jazz; including Traditional, Latin, Fusion, Smooth Jazz and more.

"Hosted by Toledo’s own, world-renowned, jazz internet station “The H-Factor Jazz Show”; this year’s line-up of artists includes native Toledoans; singer and song writer Ramona Collins, and also pianist John Cunningham, featuring the Rock Steady Band.

"Also joining this year’s line-up:

"Salsa and Latin Jazz percussionist & band leader “Sammy Deleon Y Orquestra”

"The Toronto-based, electro-jazz grooves of “Four80East”

"Jazz/R&B saxophonist Jeanette Harris with Multi-Billboard charting artist and guitarist David P. Stevens

Grammy Award-winning keyboardist composer-producer, the incomparable Jeff Lorber

A portion of the proceeds generated at the festival will go toward jazz education for our local youth thanks to the efforts of the Great Lakes Jazz Society non-profit and BeInstrumental charitable organizations. We want to share that from last year’s proceeds 2 students are now learning to play the cello & trumpet. This year, with your help we can provide music education scholarships to even more young people.

"We invite all residents throughout the City of Toledo, Northwestern Ohio, and southeast Michigan to bring your lawn chairs, come on out, chill and join us at the Metroparks Glass Pavilion on Saturday, August 12th, beginning at noon to enjoy a full day of good food, local arts and crafts vendors and live jazz music."

The NWOTPA was chartered as the Wood County Tractor Pullers in the spring of 1962. There were approximately 20 members, all residents of Wood County, Ohio. In August of 1962 the first speed pull was introduced at the Wood County Fairgrounds. A special long flat bottom sled was built that was designed for men to step on as it went by. Men were lined up on both sides of the track and stepped on the sled as it went by. The tractor that pulled the farthest was declared the winner. Many problems occurred with this type of pulling, specifically men leaving the track during the event and the tractors going too fast for men to step on." (pulltown.com)
